What you need to know.
- 01A Tobacco Retailer Permit from the Comptroller of Public Accounts is required to sell tobacco products in Texas — including cigarettes, cigars, and hookah.
- 02The permit expires May 31st of every even year and must be renewed before that date.
- 03The permit must be displayed at your place of business where customers can see it.
The rules
- You can't sell tobacco to anyone under 21.
- Free samples are not allowed
- We file the permit and remind you when it's time to renew
